Before you serve
Food & AI Safety
EasyLunch Snap can save planning time, but an adult must check every ingredient and recipe before preparing or serving food.
Effective September 3, 2026
AI can make mistakes
A fridge photo can be blurry, partly hidden, or misunderstood. The app may miss an ingredient, identify the wrong food, or produce an unsuitable recipe. Review the editable ingredient list and the complete recipe every time. Do not rely on the generated serving image to identify ingredients or judge doneness.
Allergies and dietary needs
AI allergen notes are reminders only and may miss allergens, derivatives, shared-equipment warnings, or cross-contact. Read every package label, consider preparation surfaces and utensils, follow your child’s healthcare plan, and check school allergy rules. If there is any doubt, do not serve the food.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides additional food-allergy guidance.
Cook, chill, and pack safely
- Do not use spoiled, recalled, damaged, or questionably stored food.
- Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs separate from ready-to-eat foods.
- Cook foods to safe internal temperatures and use a food thermometer when appropriate.
- Keep perishable lunches cold with an insulated bag and ice packs, following local food-safety guidance.
- Choose textures and sizes appropriate for the child and address choking risks.
For current U.S. guidance, see the government’s four steps to food safety and safe temperature chart.
When to seek expert help
For medical conditions, severe allergies, feeding difficulties, or special dietary requirements, consult a qualified healthcare professional. For a suspected allergic reaction or emergency, stop serving the food and contact local emergency services.
